What will you do in this job?

  • Greet and attend to guests in a welcoming, timely, efficient manner 
  • Acts as an ambassador of the Hotel and the National Park offering guests information about hotel history, available services, points of interest in the park and surrounding area, and entertainment options  
  • Naturally engage with guests to offer exceptional guest services  
  • Clear and reset tables as needed and keep tables neat and clean throughout service 
  • Daily stock and clean the dining facilities area 
  • Assist service staff as necessary with delivery of food or beverages 
  • Assists service staff with bar back duties including glassware cleaning, keg rotation, and organization 
  • Assist as needed with set up of rooms for special events, meetings, conferences and banquets 
  • Responsible for following federal, provincial and Company policies and regulations for serving alcoholic beverages in a responsible manner  
  • Listen to guest concerns and resolve issues to the best of your ability 
  • Keeps record of potential safety and maintenance issues and communicates details to supervisor  
  • Offer assistance to guests and teammates where needed 
  • Be a utility player who can complete a variety of job duties 
  • Handle cash, credit, and room charge payments making nightly deposits  
  • Assists as needed with set up of rooms for special events, meetings, conferences and banquets  
  • Perform other duties as requested by management  

What skills and experience do you need for this job?

  • Must be 18 years of age or older 
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a full-service restaurant position preferred, but not required– we are happy to train! 
  • Alberta ProServe responsible liquor sales & service certification  
  • Physically able to complete the duties required 
  • An active listener and the ability to tell stories to guests 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment managing multiple tasks at once 
  • Ability to anticipate guest needs 
  • Calm demeanor with conflict resolution skills 
  • Motivated, energetic, and professional 
  • Organized with a great eye for detail  
  • Team oriented, positive, and upbeat  
  • Kind to others and always bring your best  
  • Good communicator, always suggesting ideas and solutions  
  • Helpful and friendly, willing to go the extra mile

What will your work environment be like?

This fun, summer job runs from May to September, 2023

  • Beautiful. You’ll work in iconic, unforgettable and inspiring Waterton Lakes National Park. You’ll see amazing scenery and wildlife. You’ll participate in team events – and fun! 
  • Independent. You’ll spend your days in and around our historic hotel 
  • Remote. Our home is filled with trees, lakes and blue-bird skies; rather than buildings, freeways and smog. Connect with friends around a bonfire instead of through WiFi 
  • Busy. You need to be prepared for a physical working environment with walking, stair climbing, bending, reaching, lifting (up to 50 pounds with assistance) required
